We maintain over 28,000 hectares of preservation areas, and some of these areas have been transformed into seven Private Natural Heritage Reserves (RRPNs) and an Outpost of the Atlantic Forest Biosphere Reserve, covering the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado biomes, between the states of Alagoas and Minas Gerais. To preserve these areas, we have established partnerships with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), environmental agencies and research institutions. 5f1y6z

One of the few and most beautiful remnants of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest is located in the municipality of Coruripe, AL. The Sítio Pau-brasil, whose name was given due to the existence, in that location, of a large quantity of brazilwood, is recognized by UNESCO as an Outpost of the Atlantic Forest Biosphere Reserve (RBMA). 1w6n11

The site has an Environmental Education Center, which has a lecture hall, library and a large structure for visitors, and a large nursery of Atlantic Forest seedlings, capable of producing 70 thousand seedlings per year. 1t1t1a

Main projects: Howler Monkey Project, Mammals Project, Chauá Parrot Project and ASAS Project - Wild Animal Release Area.

We maintain the Porto Cajueiro Private Natural Heritage Reserve in the municipality of Januária, Minas Gerais, preserving the Cerrado biome, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet. Interspersed by the Carinhanha River, one of the main tributaries of the São Francisco River, the reserve is part of the Sertão Veredas Peruaçu Conservation Unit Mosaic. 6q6y26

The trails are typical vegetation of the region, inhabited by jaguars, maned wolves, tayras, tapirs, ocelots, deer and other species native to the cerrado, which live protected in the reserve.

Main projects: Bicudo Project, Amphibian Project and Mammal Project, forest fire prevention and combat program.

Bicudo Project 4k3u4f

The project is carried out at the RPPN Porto Cajueiro, in Januária/MG, to reintroduce the Bicudo bird, which was on the list of extinct animals and had not been seen for at least 30 years. 3j2y2u

    Project by the Alagoas Environmental Institute in which the Coruripe Plant takes part in socio-environmental actions to plant native seedlings in the region and involves actions in conjunction with municipal schools.

  • Mammals Project 561t1f

    Monitoring of mammals in the RPPN Porto Cajueiro and in the Atlantic Forest in Alagoas, carried out in partnership with the Biotropics Institute.

  • Reintroduction of Fish into the Coruripe River 587t

    We carry out restocking with local fish in partnership with the São Francisco and Parnaíba Valleys Development Company (CODEVASF), communities, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and local fishermen's associations. These efforts aim to ensure the health of aquatic ecosystems and promote the conservation of fish species in the region.

  • Amphibian Project 2xvz

    It involves collecting information to inventory amphibian species in areas of the Carinhanha River, in the Porto Cajueiro Reserve, in order to identify effective measures for fauna conservation. Carried out in partnership with the Biotropics Institute.
